We want to thank every veteran and their families for their service and sacrifice and we are glad you have found our page. Our board members and staff are all veterans like you. We want you to know that the Lucas County VSC exists to provide information, assistance, advocacy and referrals for you. We hope that this interactive website helps to answer any questions you may have and also helps you in your journey to receive the benefits and assistance you may be entitled to. The Veterans Service Commission was established in 1886 by the Ohio Legislature to assist Veterans and their families in times of need. Today, the Lucas County Veterans Service Commission provides financial assistance, referrals, information, and aid in obtaining Veterans Administration and other benefits.
There are many benefits and services available to veterans and their families. From VA benefits to emergency financial assistance, memorial affairs, medical transportation, and so much more, we are here to ease your stress and provide assistance with any needs. However, these benefits are often overlooked or underused by those eligible to receive them.
The Lucas County Veterans Service Commission exists to provide information and referrals so that veterans and their families can obtain all of the benefits they’re entitled to.

The Lucas County Veterans Service Commission is proud to partner the the Lucas County Fair. We will be at the Fairgrounds July 13th through July 16th from 10am until 6pm. Don’t forget Wednesday July 13th is veterans day at the fair which includes a free lunch from 11 am until 1pm. In addition, any veteran that visits our table during the week (Wednesday through Saturday) and shows a DD-214 or acceptable veteran Identification will receive one $4 food voucher that can be redeemed at the following participating vendors throughout the Fair:
– Milkshake Shack
– Tony D’s BBQ
– Mr. Melon Also Wednesday there will be a raffle for about 15 baskets that are donated from many local businesses. All proceeds go to local charity, Veterans Matters. Start at 11am to 6pm & at 6pm will be the drawing. You do not need to be present at the drawing to win. Tickets are $1 each & $5 for 6 tickets. Raffle table is next to the Lucas County Veterans Service table.
